Rebuilding Hope After Hurricane Helene: A Partnership with Samaritan’s Purse

In September 2024, Hurricane Helene devastated western North Carolina with record-breaking rainfall, flash floods, and landslides. The storm left a trail of destruction across Buncombe, Yancey, and Watauga counties, displacing families and destroying homes, roads, and infrastructure.

In response, Samaritan’s Purse launched one of its largest domestic disaster relief efforts to date, mobilizing thousands of volunteers and resources to help rebuild lives and restore hope.

Impact at a Glance

  • Over 300 homes repaired or rebuilt, including both stick-built and mobile homes
  • 25+ new homes constructed from the ground up for families who lost everything
  • Hundreds of mobile homes and vehicles were replaced for displaced families
  • 3 water filtration systems deployed, each capable of providing clean water for up to 10,000 people daily
  • More than 5,700 volunteers served across the region, supporting over 250 families in just the first few weeks
  • 19 helicopter missions flown to deliver emergency supplies to isolated mountain communities

These efforts have not only provided shelter and safety but also restored dignity and stability to families in crisis. One such family, the Messners of Waynesville, NC, received a brand-new home after theirs was destroyed. “My dad kept the faith,” said their daughter. “He said, ‘We’ll see what God has in store.’ And Samaritan’s Purse showed up.”

Our Role: Building Cabinets, Building Community

As part of this life-changing mission, our team is proud to contribute by crafting custom kitchen and bathroom cabinets for these new homes. These cabinets are more than just wood and hardware—they’re a symbol of care, craftsmanship, and a fresh start.

By partnering with Samaritan’s Purse, we’re not just building furniture—we’re helping build futures.
